Women’s Fashion – Trends & Tips For This Summer
Summer is coming and it’s the time of year many people start to plan their wardrobe for the warmer season. Yes it’s time to ditch the woolly jumpers and turn our thoughts to lighter and brighter clothing that is more suitable for the summer climate. The great news for this summer is that there are lots of very wearable clothes that will be hitting the high street shops soon and you will soon be able to get yourself a summer wardrobe that will keep you cool whilst also keeping you up to date with the latest fashion trends.
The big news from the Spring Summer 2011 catwalks is that last years maxi dress is still a big fashion trend for this year too. Maxi dresses are the ultimate in cool and airy dressing and fortunately they flatter most figures depending on the cut. The maxi dress also fits in with the summer season’s 1970s trend and can be worn with wedge or flat sandals for a chic or bohemian look. Maxi dresses came in all kinds of fabric on the catwalks from bold prints and bright colors to dresses made in sheer fabrics.
Another big trend for Summer 2011 is the return of bright colors and here we mean very bright colors. If you are brave enough you can opt for neon colors to really make a fashion statement but for the less brave you will find dresses, skirts and trousers in shades of cerise, bright yellow, tangerine, cobalt blue, coral and vibrant purple. This summer it’s all about bright colors so ditch the neutrals and have some fun with color. Bright colors always look better when your skin has a bit of a suntan so they are perfect for the warmer months and most people have a certain shade of color that really compliments their skin tone.
When it comes to keeping cool and comfy in summer it makes sense to opt for looser fitting clothing as tight fitting outfits can leave you feeling over-hot and uncomfortable. Tunics in all kinds of length were popular on the summer catwalks as were other types of long flowing dresses and skirt. White is a hot color for this summer and an antidote to all those bright colors. The look can be bohemian chic with peasant style tunics embroidered, smocked or trimmed with Broiderie Anglais or smarter with a tunic worn over slim-fitting white, cropped trousers teamed with flat sandals.
Anyone with a shoe addiction will also have plenty of choice this summer and the great news is that the wedge heel has made a return. This type of heel is much easier to walk in than the skyscraper stilettos that have been seen on the catwalks in recent years and fits in perfectly with the summer’s 1970s trend. However if you still want the height you can rest assured that there are varying heights of wedge in style for this season so you can go as high as you want to. Kitten heels were also popular for this summer and are also easier to walk in. And for those who prefer flats the ballerina pump remains a strong look for this season.
